<title>Introduction to <application>GOCR</application></title>

<para>The <application>GOCR</application> contains a small
<acronym>OCR</acronym> (Object Character Recognition) program. It is
useful for reading text from a graphical input file. It works without
training, but you'll need a high quality scan to get a good results.</para>

<para><application>GOCR</application> can used as a console utility, but 
there is an <acronym>GTK</acronym> front end in the source package, also.</para>
