32bcdbf0fe tag install-tl-unx 
and update the note for editors after eating my own dogfood :-(
(dependencies I had listed in my test scripts were inadequate for
the two asymptote tests).

caea7378f0 tl-installer - add note for editors re testing. 
In 2023 we eventually discovered that the x86_64 binaries for
asymptote had not worked for at least 2 years, and we now have
a workaround for that.  My 20230807 files are intended to show
which *collections* need to be added to schme-medium to allow
the various tests to run.

treewide: Bring back some User Notes 
Well, my script did not handle package names with dashes correctly.  So
some User Note links were mistakely removed.  Recheck removed links
containing dashes and add them back if applicable.

f65def957e Allow binary asy to be used on BLFS. 
It has been broken since TL2020. Thanks to xry111 for the minimal
workaround.

Update more URLs to use https 
Mostly plain http -> https replace, if https works.  If there is a HTTP
redirection, use the redirect target (unless it's a mirror or l10n like
"https://kde.org/zh-cn/").

Some non-trivial change:

* www.mnogosearch.org is dead.  Not sure how to replace, so deleted.
* use https://github.com/cacalib/libcaca for libcaca.
  http://caca.zoy.org/wiki/libcaca seems out-of-date.
* http://www.speech.cs.cmu.edu/flite/ is dead, replaced with github repo
  link.

ed3707eae3 Editorial updates to Typesetting chapter 
Moved the profile script to texlive.sh from extrapaths.sh.

Created an environment variable TEXLIVE_PREFIX and incorporated
it into the chapter's build scripts.

An additional optimization can still be made by moving the
TEXARCH variable into texlive.sh and removing it from
package instructions.

396abe0788 Update to texlive-2022. 
For the binary, libwww-perl is now recommended, therefore move
that from perl-dependencies to the top-level perl-modules.

85580446b2 Remove spaces at the end of lines 
I know it is somewhat useless, but I don't like them for
two reasons: first they cannot be seen, and I do not like things I
cannot see. Second, git highlights them, and this is disturbing...

24b84bd3f4 Tag binary texlive. 
And update somewhere in it breaks one of my xindy tests which works ok on source,
and the link for one of my remote https bib tests no-longer works, but overall
the package works.

6eb45549f0 Tag install-tl-unx and update the max size. 
I was surprised that in the current version biber is up to date,
but asy is stuck on the old 2.49 and cannot create webm html.

8dfc5c303b Fix some URLs 
- Switch to https:// scheme where possible to avoid redirects
- Unify all kernel.org, Sourceforge and GNU URLs
- Fix python and perl module URLs to be consistent
- Fix github provided URLs to properly download tarballs instead of vFOO.tar.gz
- Use upstream locations for some packages or better/shorter URLs if available
- Add https:// URLs for gnupg packages

150482fad9 Texlive-2017, and tag most of it for gcc-7.1. For the binary installer I have not tagged that (only installed the release on 8.0), but I did run the pretest, and therefore ncurses5 and readline6, on a gcc-7.1 system.

5e61060f7c Update texlive to 2016, also update xindy to current source. Various cleanups, in particular the perl modules are now mode 644. Explanations brought into same order as the commands (I hope). Tag asymptote and biber. Any users of asymptote on gcc-6.1 systems should consult the wiki pages for install-tl-unx or asymptote (i.e. if from source) as appropriate. E&OE.

f5948579d1 Texlive-2015. Looking at what I've done in the past in texlive, I'm sure there are probably still errors - if anybody has the time, disk space, inclination, and perhaps their own tex file(s), to review the from source instructions I would appreciate it. My own (lastex, minimal context) test files are in my directory on higgs.

3f3191440e Move setting the path for texlive to the beginning of the chapter. This will mean that the fixups needed to get the 2015 source to work will not need to specify the PATH to fmtutil-sys and mtxrun, and is consistent with other packages where we use /opt.
